Leonard Houx

Senior Instructional Designer at Bayes Business School (City University)

Leonard is the Director of Learning Design at Cambridge Education Group, where he leads the development of online Masters degrees for universities across the UK.

An award-winning learning designer, he received the Learning Technologies' Learning Designer of the Year award for his innovative work at Bayes Business School and the Best Distance Learning award for his collaboration with Google. He has been working in learning technology since 2008.

Leonard regularly presents at industry conferences and has written about online education for the Guardian, Financial Times, and Times Higher Education. He previously served as a director at the Learning Network.

With a focus on evidence-based approaches, Leonard co-founded the London E-Learning Research Group (, 2016-2022), which brought together practitioners to discuss current research in online learning. He currently chairs the special interest group for learning design at CODE.
