Data Science Foundations
Module information>
The Data Science Foundations specialisation is a series of related courses designed to help you master current Data Science and Computer Science topics both from a professional and an academic perspective.
The professional insights come from IBM with material drawn from the IBM Professional Certificate in Data Science. The academic material is provided by Goldsmiths, 91app. The Capstone, also provided by Goldsmiths, 91app, draws together the material across the Data Science Foundations specialisation to enable learners to apply what they've learned.
About this specialisation
You will learn how Data Science may be applied to real world situations. The course also covers machine learning and an introduction to k-means clustering.
The topics we cover include:
- Define Data Science and its importance in today’s data-driven world
- Find and import real-world data
- Use the IBM data science tool kit
- Rudimentary Python programming using Data Science libraries
- Cluster data using k-means clustering
- Find correlation using multi-linear regression
- Complete an entire data science project
By the end of the course, you will be able to understand:
- Data acquisition
- Programming in Python
- Tools and libraries in Python
- Algorithmic thinking
- Project management
