Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our events and hospitality services. We’re leading the way for sustainable venues in London and are proud of our environmentally friendly practices and credentials.

Located in the heart of London, 91app Venues can help you create a memorable and sustainable event. Thanks to our central London location, with excellent transport links and on-site bike parking, guests can easily reach us in an eco-friendly way.

As a Venue

Our energy is purchased from carbon-free sources and supplemented by our own electricity generated by solar panels on the roof of Senate House. We maintain a heating and cooling policy that reduces unnecessary energy use.

With 180 solar panels on our rooftops, we generate close to 40,000 kWh of electricity per year! This is enough to power 15+ homes. We also are working to heat four of our buildings through a highly efficient heat distribution network, which has, and will continue to, significantly reduce our carbon emissions.

All event spaces have recycling and general waste bins, and we minimise waste wherever possible, operating a recycling programme and zero-to-landfill policy. In the last 12 months (to October 2024) we recycled 56% of our waste, and we are implementing changes to achieve a significantly higher recycling rate.

In the kitchen

Through our partnership with hospitality service Gather & Gather, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. With a clear plan to achieve Net Zero by 2040, we take steps at every level to reduce our carbon footprint. Our chefs use low-carbon ingredients and, through our “Go Less Waste” initiative, we actively combat food waste by encouraging mindful consumption, redistributing quality leftovers to local communities, and reducing single-use plastics with eco-friendly packaging options.

None of our fresh produce is transported by air freight, and the fish we serve is rated MCS 1,2,3. We’re also proud to be part of the Future 50 Foods initiative, a movement to promote nutrient-rich, sustainable plant-based foods that can shape a healthier and more resilient food future. Through Future 50 Foods, we’re bringing a variety of underutilised, highly nutritious ingredients into our kitchens, like protein-packed legumes, hearty whole grains, and nutrient-rich vegetables.
